来看这句话：
It is a question of choosing not the best option but the least worst.
这里的 least worst 一不小心就会理解成：最差的，因为 least 和 worst 都表示“最次的”。
但再想想，不是有“负负得正”么。这里的 least worst 其实应当理解成：差的程度最低的。巧妙地对应了一句中文俗语：矮子里面拔将军。
所以上面的这句话，意思是：
现在的问题不是选最好的，而是选差中相对好的。
再来个例句：
If services have to be cut to reduce costs, reductions in opening hours are the least worst option. 如果为了节约成本而减少服务，那还不如减少营业时间。
当然，这种“负负得正”有时候是不成立的，比如之前提到过的 don"t know nothing。
